Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for August 19, 1996

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan beats V.K. Wallstreet with a taped fist. He pulls the tape out of the tights, but the referee takes it away from him and V.K. Wallstreet puts it around his fist. However, Duggan pulls out more tape, tapes the fist up and lets Wallstreet have it. After the match, "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Duggan, and Duggan tells Hogan he wants to talk to him as a man, wanting to know why he's turned his back on everybody. "Macho Man" Randy Savage shows up and says he and Duggan are on the same wavelength, and says he's got a problem with Hulk Hogan and he's going to get it taken care of. He plans to make things happen and not hang back even a little bit when it comes to Hogan. Savage says The Giant didn't take care of everything after he stepped aside and Hogan now has the World title, and now he's got a problem with The Giant.

:The Cripller" Chris Benoit beats "Earl" Robert Eaton.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Sting and Lex Luger. They've got a little surprise for The Four Horsemen ("The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson) and they're going at it with a new plan. Sting tells Flair and Anderson that life in WCW has never been a cakewalk, and they've got a surprise for them.

Scott "Flash" Norton beats Disco Inferno with a Flashback followed by a single arm bar.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Theodore Long and Ice Train. Teddy thanks everyone for the well wishes for a speedy recovery, and says Scott "Flash" Norton didn't beat Ice Train due to Nick Patrick calling the match. Ice Train tells Norton he can't attack him from behind and that he'll have to face him eventually, and he won't be wrapped up in tape for long.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: "Squire" David Taylor vs. Lex Luger for the WCW Television Championship! Dean Malenko vs. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship!

Dean Malenko beats "Lord" Steven Regal.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Enforcer" Arn Anderosn and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Anderson knows Sting and Lex Luger hates them, but at least he has guts and he has never had to have a weapon in his back pocket to feel tough. He says Sting and Lex Luger have rolled with them for 10 years, and tonight won't be any different. Flair says that tonight, Luger and Sting will be styling and profiling with them. As the pyro goes off to signal the second hour, Flair tells Hulk Hogan that if he's watching tonight, then he should know that Flair has more playing time than Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan or Hogan.

The Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags and Brian Knobbs) beat Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) after Public Enemy accidentally put themselves through a table. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Nasty Boys after the match. Sags says that everyone who enters Nastyville will leave Nastyville face down like Public Enemy, be it WCW or nWo. Knobbs says Hulk Hogan can go do his thing while they do theirs, and that The Nasty Boys are ready to be tag team champs for a fourth time.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. beats Diamond Dallas Page after reversing the Diamond Cutter into a backslide pin. An angry DDP rips the belt off the pants of referee Nick Anderson and whips Chavo with it, and referee Randy Anderson has to stop Diamond Dallas Page. Patrick defends himself yet again to "Mean" Gene Okerlund, saying it wouldn't be the best option to go it alone. As for the recent accusations, he blames them all on Okerlund, saying it's all his fault the media is blowing everything out of proportion and that WCW is fractured.

Fall Brawl is coming to pay-per-view Sunday, September 15th!

Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) retain the WCW World Tag Team Championships against The American Males (Marcus Alexander Bagwell and Scotty Riggs).

Before the next match, Sting wants Steve "Mongo" McMichael and "The Crippler" Chris Benoit to come down to the ring as he knows they will show up. After the commercial break, "Mean" Gene Okerlund shows up to make heads or tails of the situation. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson says if Sting has something to say, then let him say it. Sting says he and Luger can keep going at it with the Horsemen. He knows he and Luger can't trust them, but knows they are as much WCW as he and Luger. He says that War Games will happen in 30 days, and it was created for The Horsemen by The Horsemen, and demands that he and Flair take two of the slots in War Games with "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson. Anderson says he doesn't like Sting and Luger and that they don't share his philosophy, and tells Luger to bring power and dedication with him to War Games if he is to survive. Luger says he knows Anderson and Flair knows he doesn't let up. Anderson then asks Sting for one night not to do the ring thing and to get down in the gutter and do something so violent and painful that the other man is forced to quit, then says when he gets in War Games with The Outsiders (Hall and Nash), they'll have to kill him because he will never quit. Sting says WCW has never been a cakewalk, and that he has lived the life of WCW. Flair says he knows Sting and Luger better than anyone else, and if Benoit and Mongo are willing to step aside, he'll walk the path, otherwise Benoit and Mongo are part of the team. Benoit says he will respect their decision, while Mongo says he is willing to sacrifice but will be watching Sting and Luger to make sure they hold up the end of the bargain, otherwise the nWo will be a walk in the park. Anderson tells Sting and Luger they have a deal, and Sting and Luger join Flair and Anderson in War Games.

We see another announcement paid for by the New World Order where Hall and Nash are out and about in Denver. They brag about taking the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and leaving The Giant laying. They say they don't someone like The Booty Man as part of their team, then make fun of Sting and Lex Luger.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage attacks The Giant with a steel chair before their match can begin. The Giant makes quick work of Savage, who manages to take down Jimmy Hart and take his steel chair to swat Hugh Morrus and Big Bubba before hitting The Giant, Meng and The Barbarian with it before rushing out of the ring. The Giant quickly runs to the back to look for Savage. Also, Sting and Lex Luger teaming up with "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair at War Games is official for Fall Brawl.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for April 22, 1996

The American Males (Marcus Alexander Bagwell and Scotty Riggs) beat Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) after Grunge and Rocco Rock spend too long double-teaming The American Males. During the match, it is announced that next week's show has a special 7 PM Eastern start time. It is also announced that there will be a 16-team tag team tournament, with the final four teams fighting each other for a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Slamboree. Scotty Riggs is sandwiched through a table after the match.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund announces the first-round drawings for the Lethal Lottery tag team tournament. Hugh Morrus and Meng will be facing off against the team of Meng's usual partner Barbarian and "Hard Work" Bobby Walker. Stevie Ray and Big Bubba will face Fire and Ice (Scott "Flash" Norton and Ice Train). In the most surprising drawing so far, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair will team up with "Macho Man" Randy Savage" to take on "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson and Eddie Guerrero.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit uses the rope while the referee is directly underneath his arm to beat Eddie Guerrero.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund is joined by WCW Front Office Vice President Rob Garner. "Macho Man" Randy Savage shows up, and Garner tells him that if he does not cease his actions towards "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, the repercussions will be severe. Savage says he will be creative as doing what he wants to do when he wants to do it, and says that he will be the tag team partner from hell when it comes time to teaming with Flair. Garner tells Savage he should seek professional help, but Savage threatens to get physical with Garner (asking him what an open-hand slap is) and threatens to do something to electrify WCW, then leaves.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: "Lord" Steven Regal vs. The Belfast Bruiser! "Macho Man" Randy Savage! The Giant! Chris Benoit vs. Alex Wright! Sting and Lex Luger vs. Harlem Heat!

It is announced that all titles will be on the line in tonight's main event. If anyone pins "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, they will be the new WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Also, if The Giant or Flair pins Sting or Lex Luger, they will both be one-half of the WCW World Tag Team Championships. If Lex Luger is pinned, he will also lose the WCW World Television Championship in addition to the WCW World Tag Team Championships.

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan beats Meng after taping up his fist. During the match, the results of tonight's WWF Raw are spoiled.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund announces more drawings for the Lethal Lottery tag team tournament. "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright will team up with Disco Inferno to take on "Earl" Robert Eaton and "Dirty" Dick Slater. "Lord" Steven Regal will be teaming up with his rival The Belfast Bruiser to take on V.K. Wallstreet and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan.

Before the next match, "Macho Man" Randy Savage goes after "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, but local authorities quickly apprehend Savage and handcuff him. Flair tries to stomp Savage as he is being cuffed, then Savage is carried to the back. Also, Flair tries once again to impress Steve "Mongo" McMichael's wife Debra, who is seated next to the aisle again this week.

Sting and Lex Luger vs. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and The Giant ends when The Nature Boy accidentally tosses hot coffee (handed to him by Woman) into the face of The Giant. Luger, Sting and Flair all get out of dodge, but Flair gets a towel for The Giant and apologizes. As "Mean" Gene Okerlund is about to conduct an interview with Flair, The Giant and Jimmy Hart, The Giant confronts Flair. Flair escapes, and The Giant tells Flair that he will take the World Heavyweight Championship. Flair tells The Giant he has until the end of the night to apologize to him, "or next week, I'll kick your big ass." This causes The Giant to run after The Nature Boy at mach speed and chase him to the back, and it is announced not long after that the World title will be on the line between the two of them next week.
