Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for October 12, 1998

The show begins with Eric Bischoff asking a security guard to stop "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair from entering the building. When that does not work, he asks arena security to do the same after telling head of WCW Security Doug Dellinger he has screwed it up one too many times.

We see footage from after last week's episode where Sting is tended to and placed on a stretcher following his brawl with Bret "The Hit Man" Hart.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

It is announced that World Championship Wrestling and CapitalOne set up a big event on Wall Street featuring top WCW Superstars to unveil the very first WCW MasterCard. (The video package for this announcement uses "Loaded" by Zack Tempest, which is the same music that The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy) would later use when they join the WWF full-time and eventually become associated with them throughout the years.)

Wrath beats Lodi. After the match, Meng is seen approaching the ring, and Wrath meets him in the aisle for a brawl.

Dale Torborg beats Kendall Windham. During the match, Torborg hurts his knee coming down from a high kick to Windham.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Shane from Black Cat Tattoo in Atlanta, Georgia is the winner of this week's Nitro Party Pack. We see some footage from his Nitro Party.

Sting shows up. Last week, he and Bret "The Hit Man" beat each other into submission in the back, and now he is calling Bret out. He also calls out Hollywood Hogan, telling him he will put him in a black box and send it back to Hollywood, California. All of a sudden, The Warrior shows up, and tells Sting he has to agree with him on how far a little dab of paint will take someone. Far from the beginning and from their beginning, he will leave the history lesson to others, but he has watched his career and has nothing but unconditional respect and tells Sting that WCW is his battleground, not The Warrior's, and that he has intruded to make a one-time request. He says it is fatal to enter any battle without the will to win, and brings up his battle with Hogan at Halloween Havoc. His Warriors give him the will to win one battle at a time, and if Sting is to call out the anti-heroes of our time, then he demands that he stand alongside him to fight.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour. Mike Tenay mentions Sting and The Warrior's brief past history as a tag team known as "The Blade Warriors" before they both moved to different companies and earned significant solo success, leaving them unable to team since.

Hollywood Hogan, Eric Bischoff and The Giant show up. Hogan says the black-and-white can be seen no matter where you look, and that The Giant is taking care of Goldberg and taking back the World title in a no-disqualification match. He has heard what Sting and The Warrior have to say, and he has talked to Bret "The Hit Man" Hart. As they talked, he could not wipe the smile off of his face and it would be a pleasure to take Sting and Warrior and wipe the paint off their faces. He plans to prove that he still rules in the tag team match tonight. As Hogan, Bischoff and The Giant leave, someone tells Bischoff that "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair is in the building. He heads outside to see a white limo pull up, and Flair comes out with the rest of The Four Horsemen ("The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Dean Malenko). Bischoff is stopped by Bischoff and the police, but Flair brings out the owner of the arena, Bruce McGardner, who says that The Horsemen are sitting with him in an executive box tonight, much to the aggravation of Bischoff, who says he has a corporate lease. THe owner and The Horsemen are then let into the arena as Bischoff threatens to sue the owner. Bischoff then takes his anger out on head of WCW Security Doug Dellinger and arena security for not doing their jobs.

Before the next match, Alex Wright mocks the fans and says that everyone knows he is the greatest European wrestler after having beaten Norman Smiley, The British Bulldog, and soon, Fit Finley, whom he says ended his father's career. Tonight, he plans to end Fit Finley's.

Alex Wright beats Fit Finley after using the top rope for leverage during the pinfall. As soon as Wright gets out of the ring, he is attacked by The British Bulldog. After Bulldog and Finley knock Alex out of the ring, Finley attacks Bulldog before leaving.

Before the next match, United Center owner Bruce McGardner and The Four Horsemen ("The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Dean Malenko) are seen in the executive box with beautiful women.

Super Calo, Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Psychosis beat La Parka, Ciclope and Villano V. During the end of the match, Eddie Guerrero shows up with the Latino World Order. Eddie says that Eric Bischoff does not respect la raza or lucha libre, and dares anybody from the nWo to do what they do. He says that Bischoff has taken advantage of the economical situation at home and brought them to America only to work for peanuts, and that Bischoff does not respect any of them. He then tells Bischoff they are his future whether they like it or not, and they will get their piece of the cake. Psychosis joins the LWO as Chavo leaves.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Scott Steiner shows up. He says that professional wrestlers that go through similar situations always seem to bond together, just like how Rick Steiner jumped on his back to get championships just like how the Chicago Cubs jumped on Sammy Sosa's back in the hope to get back into the World Series. However, he has convinced Sammy Sosa to go to a contender, and that the Chicago Cubs suck. Scott Steiner says there is not a single woman he could not put down horizontally and see nothing but satisfaction in their eyes, and tells all the "freaks" that "Big Poppa Pump" is their hook-up and to holler if they hear him. Last week, however, he had a woman show up unwanted and uninvited to embarrass Buff Bagwell, and that he convinced Buff that when Buff is in his world, he is the stuff, and that he has convinced his mother to stay at home and out of nWo business. He says there will be no fireworks tonight, as Buff knows the kind of athlete he is and that he and Buff are close friends. Buff Bugwell shows up with mother Judy Bagwell, and Buff Bagwell tells Scott Steiner that they have not worked anything and that they have a problem. Scott tells him the only problem he sees is that Buff has a hurt neck and that he can break it instantly. Buff says he has listened to her mother, and that she was right: everything has gone too far and that it is all Scott's fault. Scott says "Mommy's boy is getting a little soft," and entertains the idea of ripping the black-and-white nWo shirt off his back. Buff then says it is really clear, and says that they should probably go one-on-one right now. Scott Steiner calls Judy Bagwell "an old bag," and tells him that if she gets in his way, there will be problems, and she has problems. Scott says he should have slapped Judy last week, and says he wants her out before he puts her out. Buff clocks Scott, but Scott hits Buff with a low blow before dropping him throat first on the top rope. Scott then says that anyone who stands up to him is going down, as he is nWo for life. The show goes to break as Scott Steiner dares anyone to get in the ring with him.

Before the next match, Disco Inferno tells Prince Iaukea and Juventud Guerrera that nobody came to see him wrestle and that everyone paid to see him dance. Disco Inferno then gets on the apron and is about to dance to his entrance music when Prince Iaukea knocks him off the apron and into the guardrail. Shortly after the match begins, Kidman shows up, grabs a steel chair and chases Disco Inferno to the back with it.

Juventud Guerrera beats Prince Iaukea. During the match, Disco Inferno shows up again and gets on the apron, distracting Prince Iaukea, who punches him in the face only for Juventud to pin him with a schoolboy pin. After the match, Kidman shows up again, gets his hands on Disco Inferno, and punches Disco all over the arena.

Kevin Nash shows up. He says he has been sitting backstage for a couple of hours now, and he has seen Scott Hall stagger around like he usually does. He then says it takes a lot to get him upset, but Hall has touched his last nerve. Before he wrestled, he was a bouncer, and if there is something he does very well, it is beating up drunks. He tells Scott Hall to come out, because it is last call. Scott Hall shows up with a drink in one hand and a microphone in the other, and tells Nash to make it a double and six to go. He then puts the drink down and tells Nash that if he wants to fight, he will fight him, but he will fight him "down here." Nash gets out of the ring and chases him to the back. Nash then tries to find him in the back, and a cameraman eventually follows Nash outside, where Hall is leaving the building via a limousine. Nash gets in a Cadillac and follows Hall's limo.

Chris Jericho retains the WCW World Television Championship against Raven.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the third hour.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Rick Steiner. Rick says he didn't push too far to get his match against Scott Steiner, saying Steiner has brought everything on himself. The wicked laughter is heard one more time, and this time, we see the source: horror movie icon and the most recognizable star of the Child's Play series, Chucky. He asks who Okerlund is calling a dummy, as he is standing with "a genetic throwback who barks at the moon." He then tells Okerlund to "shut the hell up," and says he is here to talk to Rick, who tells him to come to the ring. Chucky tells Rick he's been playing his dolls all his life, but he's not his type and that he needs a kinder, gentler, dumber doll as he can show him real body mutilation and have the dogs chew on him like some old shoe. He then tells everyone to see his new movie Bride of Chucky on October 16th, and tells Rick not to mess with Scott, as he is the lead in his next project. If Rick messes with Scott, he messes with him and his Academy Award and he will get more than lucky...he will get even. (This guest appearance by Chucky is booed by the crowd after it becomes apparent that his appearance is solely to promote his new movie.)

This Tuesday on QVC: World Championship Wrestling premieres on QVC Sports at 8 PM Eastern, 5 PM Pacific.

Eric Bischoff shows up. He insists that the arena is his tonight, and he does not want "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, regardless of whether or not he is friends with United Center owner Bruce McGardner. He then calls out head of WCW Security Doug Dellinger and WCW Executive Committee Chairman J.J. Dillon, who both show up. Bischoff says he will teach Dillon a management lesson tonight, and commands Dellinger to head up to the executive box and get rid of Flair. Bischoff, Dellinger and Dillon head towards the executive box through the crowd. A camera crew eventually catches up with them, and Bischoff finally gets the attention of McGardner, who tells him that this is a private party that has nothing to do with his event. When Bischoff puts his hands on McGardner, security quickly gets their hands on Bischoff and pin him to the floor. Dellinger is seen smiling as Bischoff is pinned down, and Flair heads into the hallway and demands Bischoff be tossed out before Bischoff is carried out of the building to the delight of many cheering fans. Ric Flair is then seen dancing around outside of the box, and McGardner raises up the four fingers on both hands. After the commentary team has a good laugh, the camera crew catches up with security, who then put a power-mad Bischoff in the back of an unmarked police car.

Goldberg beats The Giant by count-out in a no-disqualification match. Stevie Ray hits Goldberg with a chair, which has no effect. The Giant then choke slams Goldberg, but Diamond Dallas Page shows up, breaks up the pinfall and hits Stevie Ray with a Diamond Cutter only to be nearly choke slammed by The Giant. Goldberg hits The Giant with a Spear before he can do it, and Stevie Ray and The Giant flee before DDP heads to the back. Goldberg then tells Page "At Halloween Havoc, your ass is mine!"

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Sting and The Warrior beat Hollywood Hogan and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart by disqualification. During the match, nWo Hollywood shows up and attack The Warrior, then smoke begins to fill up the ring as The Warrior is tossed out of the ring. Sting gets in the ring with the baseball and clears the ring out, while The Warrior attacks Hogan and nWo Hollywood with his own belt outside of the ring as he chases them to the back as the show ends.

Thunderstruck - Thunder recap for January 22, 1998

It is announced that at Souled Out, an announcement will be coming determining the future of the vacated WCW World Heavyweight Championship, and that "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, Sting and Scott Hall are expected to be at the event for the announcement.

Scott Steiner beats Konnan by disqualification when Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton attack Scott Steiner. Rick Steiner and Ray Traylor show up to help even the odds, and Scott Steiner is able to clean house. Afterwards, Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell have an impromptu pose-off.

Kevin Nash shows up. He says that it is nice to be loved in Huntsville, Alabama, then says that within the next hour-and-a-half, he will be $1.5 million dollars richer. He then tells everyone to stay tuned, as he has some tricks up his sleeve and that The Giant is going to snap, as he wants him worse than "a lap dance after twenty years at sea," and he has had "a little bit too much coffee." Nash addresses any supposed fear of The Giant he has by saying The Giant is sadly mistaken if he thinks he fears him, then says there are two kinds of torture: physical torture, which The Giant will receive at Souled Out, and psychological torture, which The Giant has taken from Nash in the last couple of weeks. Nash then says he will head to the back and figure out how to spend his money, because The Giant will fold and he is a rich man.

Mike Tenay guests on commentary for the next match.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Super Calo beat La Parka and Silver King. During the match, Raven shows up and makes his way to the front row on his own. After the match, La Parka smacks Chavo and Super Calo in the back with his steel chair, then Juventud Guerrera and Lizmark Jr. get in the ring and fight La Parka and Silver King. El Dandy and Psychosis then run in, and everybody in the ring then brawls with one another.

We almost hear from referee Nick Patrick, but Rick Martel shows up. Martel is harassed by Billy Kidman, who calls him a stooge, and he is eventually attacked from behind by Perry Saturn. Saturn and Kidman put Martel through one of the glass entrance doors as referees and officials try to break up the brawl.

Bill Goldberg beats Kendall Windham.

Scott Hall shows up. After the usual survey, The New World Order will take money from The Giant while he slaps The Giant around tonight. As for Souled Out, he plans to shut "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko's mouth shut. He tells Zbyszko to look at his scrapbook now, since he career will end Saturday night. Suddenly, Louie Spicolli shows up with a bag of golf clubs which happen to belong to Zbyszko. He then starts swinging all the golf clubs before breaking each one over his knee, then Hall says he will bring what is left of the clubs back at Souled Out as a golf career is all Zbyszko will have left. Zbyszko shows up and tells Hall he can make all the jokes he wants, since he and Spicolli look like Abbott and Costello, anyway. He also tells Hall that he will have to outwrestle him - something Zbyszko claims Hall cannot do - at Souled Out. Louie, when asked if Zbyszko has any chance on Saturday night, says that Zbyszko cannot even beat him. This leads to a brawl between Louie and Zbyszko, where Zbyszko easily comes out on top before outsmarting Scott Hall. Zbyszko then tells Hall that he will walk on Saturday night and that he will not walk out alone.

Rey Mysterio Jr. beats Eddie Guerrero by disqualification when he is attacked by Chris Jericho. After the attack, Eddie confronts Jericho before the two of them take the boots to Rey. Afterwards, Eddie confronts Jericho again, this time for costing him a Cruiserweight title shot. All of a sudden, "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit comes out of the crowd and stands behind Jericho, and Guerrero changes his tune so that he can leave the ring, causing Jericho to turn around and run into Benoit. Benoit and Jericho then go at it, giving an impromptu start to the next match as referee Mickey Jay and Dean Malenko help Rey to the back.

"The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit beats Chris Jericho with the Crippler Crossface before Benoit can even apply the hold to Jericho. During the match, it is announced that Raven - who is still sitting in the front row - is in the front row because he bought a ticket to the show tonight. After the match, Benoit dares Raven to get in the ring. Raven gets into the ring and blindsides Benoit as soon as Benoit turns his back.

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff show up. Hogan says good things come to those who wait, and that he has already put his handprints on Hollywood Boulevard and has already got his star ready for Hollywood, and now that everyone has seen him beat Sting twice and beat The Giant on Nitro, he is the true champion and the WCW World Heavyweight Championship is coming back to him. Hogan then says he has heard that WCW wanted to give him the title tonight, but instead, they are giving it a double polish and a name plate with his name on it in cursive to give it back to him at Souled Out. He then says Sting will be there to worship the ground he walks on and that "Rowdy" Roddy Piper will worship the ground he walks on like a disciple. He also says that Scott Hall will be there with the rest of The New World Order to see the World title come back to him. Hogan then says that if he has to prove how good he is every night, he will be the nWo Champion for life.

Rick Martel beats Perry Saturn with the Quebec Crab. After the match, Kidman tries to hit Martel with a top rope cross body, but Martel dodges it and Kidman ends up hitting Saturn instead.

Scott Hall vs. The Giant ends in a no-contest. During the match, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash show up, and Nash hits The Giant with a foreign object as referee Randy Anderson is pre-occupied with Hall. Hall and Hogan get in the ring and take the boots to The Giant, who headbutts both men. "Macho Man" Randy Savage tries to attack The Giant from behind, but he is stopped by Lex Luger, who puts Savage in the Torture Rack. Nash proceeds to taunt Savage before turning away from him and Luger, and The Giant hits the choke slam on Hall. Kevin Hall then attacks The Giant, and The Giant confronts Nash. The Giant responds by tearing down one corner of the ring.
