Destination X - Impact Wrestling recap for August 17, 2017

We see America's Top Team - including Lashley - and Jeff Jarrett outside of the Impact Zone in footage from earlier today.

Mackenzie Mitchell tries to interview Bruce Prichard in front of his office, but it is noticed by Mackenzie that someone interesting - who we do not see - is in there.

Sienna retains the GFW Unified Knockouts Championship against Gail Kim after Taryn Terrell - who hasn't been seen in almost two years - shows up out of nowhere and hits Gail Kim with a cutter.

Matt Sydal tells Lashley he will know his name before the night is over. He says that he will also earn Lashley's respect before the night is over.

Bruce Prichard shows up, and identifies himself as a creative consultant for GFW. He thanks the fans for their patients, loyalty and lenience for the past year. He then reads a statement which states that Alberto El Patron is no longer the Unified GFW Global Champion, and that El Patron has voluntarily given up the title to focus on his family. To rectify this situation, as head corporate adviser, he can have the title revert back to a former champion, and returns it to its former titleholder: Lashley. Instead of Lashley, Jim Cornette shows up. After a Dairy Queen reference between the two men, Jim Cornette says he's a corporate specialist, and says he has been given a phone call to make sure issues are handled properly. Bruce Prichard apparently doesn't like the fact that Cornette is here for this reason, and says Cornette isn't his boss. Before security takes Cornette away, Cornette calls Prichard a jerk who has abused his power, and that corporate has called him up to take care of him. He then fires Prichard, much to Prichard's chagrin. Prichard says this isn't the last Cornette has seen of him. Cornette takes the Global title from him, then has him ejected. He then says corporate is tried of being screwed around, then says El Patron did not relinquish the title; instead, he was stripped of it. He also says that if you want something here, you'll have to fight for it. Therefore, Lashley will not be awarded the Unified GFW Global Championship after all. Cornette also makes professionalism a high priority, and if anyone steps out of line, they will be dealing with him personally. Cornette then makes official a 20-man gauntlet match for the Global title. Cornette says he does not care who wins; whoever wins the match will have earned it. The Latin-American Xchange then show up.

After the break, Jim Cornette is confronted by The Latin-American Xchange. Konnan is not happy with Cornette being here, and says Low-Ki should be the #1 contender for the Unified GFW Global Championship. Cornette says corporate is making the rules, and that he's only here to enforce them. Konnan warns Cornette not to screw over Low Ki, who says he smells fear from Cornette. Cornette places Low Ki in the gauntlet match at #20. He also warns LAX not to lay a hand on him or they going to jail. Konnan says Boricuas run the pen in Orlando and that going to jail for beating him up would be a reward for them. Cornette tells LAX he gave them good news, and to leave it at that. He makes it clear he is pulling no punches here. He may be a cracker, but he's not a liar, and they will learn that when he says something, they're going to believe it.

Dezmond Xavier beats Taiji Ishimori to win the 2017 Super X Cup Tournament. Dezmond Xavier checks on Taiji Ishimori after the match. Thankfully, he is okay. They both bow to each other in respect. Dezmond Xavier says this is a moment is everyone will remember as he takes the trophy.

Karen Jarrett and Bruce Prichard argue loudly backstage as Prichard is ejected from the building. Prichard asks Karen if she is happy, and Karen tells Prichard he will never work in GFW again.

Joseph Park tells Grado it is time to buck up. Next week, Grado is saying goodbye...

Sonjay Dutt retains the GFW X Division Championship against Trevor Lee in a Ladder Match. During the match, Caleb Konley tries to stop Sonjay from getting the title to help Trevor Lee to the title, but Petey Williams - who has not been seen in a few years - shows up and hits Konley with the Canadian Destroyer to help Sonjay. Trevor Lee tries to get to the title one more time, but Sonjay Dutt manages to knock him off the ladder to retain the X Division title.

Mackenzie Mitchell interviews Lashley, who says that he is going to destroy Matt Sydal, whom he calls a loser who is keeping him from what is rightfully his: the Unified GFW Global Championship.

oVe (Jake and Dave Crist) beat Jason Cade and Zachary Wenst in their GFW debut.

Ethan Carter III and Moose find out from Jim Cornette they are in next week's gauntlet match. Eli Drake then introduces himself to Cornette along with Chris Adonis, and says he is the unrecognized #1 guy. They're in the gauntlet match, too, and since Eli Drake says he's #1, he's in the gauntlet as the first guy in. Cornette then tells Eli Drake that when the gauntlet is over, they'll need dental records to identify him.

Matt Sydal beats Lashley after kicking a steel chair into his face and getting a schoolboy pin in after dodging a Spear into the corner. As per pre-match stipulation, Sydal now gets a shot at the title of his choice. After the match, a member of America's Top Team in the front row near the aisle tries to choke out referee Brian Hebner, and Lashley has to calm the guy down.

John Hennigan, known the world over as John Morrison and Johnny Mundo among other names, is coming to GFW under the name Johnny Impact.

The day after The Final Deletion, Matt Hardy names his boat Skaarsgard before dumping a trash bag with "the material remains" of Jeff Hardy into a lake. The drone Vanguard-1 shows up and hands Matt a piece of the shirt that he missed.

DJ Z wins a ladder match to become the #1 contender for the TNA X Division Championship. Jeremy Borash interviews DJ Z after the match. DJ Z says he has been working for six long years to get to this point, and he plans to become the next X Division champ. He is suddenly attacked by "The Miracle" Mike Bennett, who says that he will burn TNA to the ground.

Ethan Carter III says that he and Drew Galloway are friends and what the same thing, but there can only be one. Tonight, they fight.

McKenzie Mitchell

Jeremy Borash is in the ring with Lashley and Eddie Edwards. Lashley says the World title is the heart of TNA, not the X Division, and that all Eddie Edwards has managed to do is pis shim off. Eddie says he's never backed down from a fight, and he doesn't plan to now. He tells Lashley that if he is pissed off now, he should wait until later tonight when he is World champion. Lashley says that won't happen tonight, because the underdog only wins in movies. Eddie tells Lashley that wrestling is his life, and Lashley attacks him. Lashley then gets a steel chair and is about to hit Eddie with it when Davey Richards, who hasn't been seen on television since February, makes a surprise return and saves Eddie from a beating before he and Eddie send Lashley over the top rope with a double team clothesline.

Abyss tells an angry Crazzy Steve that he will take care of Bram, and Rosemary will be free again....and everything will be beautiful.

Matt Hardy shows "The Final Deletion" to a crowd of a select few in his own private theater, and tells everyone to stay tuned for the "the public completion" as he "publicly deletes" Jeff Hardy.

Bram beats Abyss after Rosemary shows up, checks on Bram and crawls back out of the ring, distracting Abyss.

Sienna retains the TNA Knockouts Championship against Gail Kim, Jade and Marti Bell after Allie places Marti Bell's foot on the rope as Gail Kim goes for the pinfall.

Matt Hardy, Reby Sky and Maxel have a relaxing dinner as Matt Hardy prepares for "the public deletion."

Lashley said Eddie Edwards had the choice to run away until he stepped up to him. He tells Davey Richards to be at ringside tonight to watch Eddie Edwards get destroyed.

Matt Hardy heads to the ring. Last week, he beat Jeff Hardy in "The Final Deletion," and proclaims that he now owns everything Hardy, and he has decided to bring Jeff to the ring one last time without music or fanfare. Reby Sky repeatedly screams "Obsolete!" as Jeff approaches the ring with no facepaint and a red hoodie. Matt tells Jeff that his Impact Wrestling contract is terminated, and then tells him to be gone. Jeff starts to leave, but Matt tells Jeff to stop and turn around, and tells him he hopes he will not find joy "in the afterlife," but tells him he might get a job in the WWE or New Japan, and decides to keep him in TNA and own him as his personal, obsolete mule that he will work to death. Matt says he is broken, but he will never be broke. He tells Jeff that he will find out deletion is a fate worse than death.

DJ Z confronts "The Miracle" Mike Bennett backstage. He wants him in the ring right now after how Bennett attacked him from behind, and tells Bennett he should be worried about him and not Eddie Edwards.

DJ Z beats "The Miracle" Mike Bennett after the entire X Division blocks Bennett's escape route to the back, allowing DJ Z to beat Bennett with a body scissors roll-up. After the match, Bennett doesn't take the loss very well, and says he will burn TNA to the ground...and he won't do it alone...

Drew Galloway calls Ethan Carter III a passionate man, but now it's time to fight.

Drew Galloway shows up. He says that he and Ethan Carter III are good friends, but Ethan keeps getting in his way. TNA won't sanction a match, but they will have a fight. Ethan Carter III shows up and says that they may be friends, but in the ring, Drew is his Scottish puppy-dog bitch. This starts an unsanctioned fight that goes into the back before it's broken up.

Davey Richards tapes up Eddie Edwards' hand. Richards says he's almost ready to head back to the ring as he tells Eddie Edwards he's got his back.

Eddie Edwards vs. Lashley for both the TNA World Heavyweight and X Division Championships when "The Miracle" Mike Bennett shows up and brings out the man he was on the phone with: Moose, fresh out of Ring of Honor.

McKenzie Miller interviews Dixie Carter, who says that next Thursday there will be a rematch between Eddie Edwards and Lashley with both the World Heavyweight and X Division titles on the line, and that there will be no interference as the rematch will be Six Sides of Steel.

Destination X 2015 - The Results

Ethan Carter III shows up to start the show by starting a sitdown strike, but Kurt Angle stops it, saying everyone is here to see wrestling and not him "being a whiny bitch." Angle dares EC3 to fight him, saying he'd snap his ankle in two. Rockstar Spud shows up as Ethan Carter III leaves, and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship match begins.

Kurt Angle retains the TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Rockstar Spud with the Ankle Lock Submission. After the match, Angle raises Spud's arm, but Austin Aries can be seen at the top of the entrance ramp with his Feast or Fired briefcase.

Taryn Terrell says that if Awesome Kong wants a shot at the Knockouts title, she has to wear a pink slip and take part in a lingerie pillow fight.

Low Ki beats Manik and Crazzy Steve to continue to the X Division Championship match.

Grado's been getting ready for the X Division title match. Well, he's trying, anyway.

Tigre Uno beats Mandrews and DJ Z to continue to the X Division Championship match. After the match, Jessie Godders shows up and attacks DJ Z.

Awesome Kong shows up for the Knockouts title match without the pink slip, and fights off Jade and Marti Bell. When Taryn Terrell orders Christy Hemme to declare her the winner, Brooke shows up and says the lingerie match is a new low, even for her. After some talk, Brooke finally get her hands on Taryn Terrell and disrobes her, forcing Taryn to retreat to the back. Brooke tells Taryn that the next time they meet, she's taking the Knockouts title.

Bobby Roode tells Austin Aries that he has his back tonight. Of course, he wants the first shot at the TNA World title if he wins.

As Grado strips down to weigh himself for the match, he learns from ref Steve Stiffler and Jeremy Borash that it's about no limits, not weight limits.

Grado beats Kenny King and Cruz to continue to the X Division Championship match.

Bram just clocked a cameraman, and he has intentions of clocking somebody in the ring soon.

Bram is in the ring. He's not a big fan of the past or history in general, and calls out any past TNA superstar that happens to be in the back. Crimson responds to Bram's open challenge.

Bram beats Crimson after biting his hand prior to The Brighter Side of Suffering.

Angle is impressed with Spud's attempt to beat him, and now he has to face Austin Aries. He guarantees he'll retain the World title as much as he guarantees this will be match of the year.

EC3 says he's the true #1 contender, and tells Angle that when he throws the first punch, he won't get up.
