Survivor Series 1996 - The Results

The team of Jesse James, "The Portuguese Man-O-War" Aldo Montoya, Bob "Spark Plug" Holly and Bart Gunn beats the team of Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw, The Sultan, Salvatore Sincere and Billy Gunn in a Traditional 4-on-4 Survivor Series Match during the Free For All, with Bart Gunn the only survivor after pinning brother Billy.

It is announced by Dok Hendrix that the winner of Bret "The Hit Man" Hart vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will get a shot at the WWF Championship as per WWF President Gorilla Monsoon.

Dok Hendrix interviews Billy Gunn, who says he carried The Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart Gunn) and that he is the top gun of the WWF. He challenges Bart Gunn to a match to prove Bart is "a punk." He calls Bart's win tonight a fluke.

Todd Pettengill is in the ring when the arena goes dark. We hear The Undertaker's voice, saying that tonight will be the dawn of a new day and the rebirth of The Undertaker. He tells Mankind he had the chance to rest in peace; now he must burn in Hell. The lights then come back on, and Pettengill is spooked.

The team of The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn), Doug Furnas and Philip LaFon beat the team of Owen Hart, The British Bulldog and The New Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Leif Cassidy) in a Traditional 4-on-4 Survivor Series Match, with Furnas and LaFon as the survivors.

Kevin Kelly interviews Paul Bearer and Mankind. Paul Bearer says he isn't going in the cage, as he is not an animal. Mankind tells Paul Bearer to think back to Buried Alive, and how The Undertaker came back to life. He says it doesn't bother him, as The Undertaker will be crawling down the aisle and he will squash him like the cockroaches he used to call dinner. He plans to eat The Undertaker alive tonight.

The Undertaker descends from the top of the arena like a bat before the next match, as if the cape he extends to the sides with his arms is similar to Batman's.

The Undertaker beats Mankind in a match where Paul Bearer is placed in a cage hung high atop the ring. After the match, the cage is lowered, but before The Undertaker can get his hands on Paul Bearer, The Executioner shows up and attacks Undertaker. Paul Bearer runs away, but it doesn't take long for The Undertaker to outmatch The Executioner. It is noted during the match that not only does The Undertaker look different, but he is using more wrestling moves and less brawling tactics.

Doug Furnas and Philip LaFon chat with fans on American On-Line.

Sunny guests on commentary for the next match.

Dok Hendrix interviews the team of Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Crush, Jerry "The King' Lawler and Goldust. Hunter plans to show "Wildman" Marc Mero why he's Intercontinental champ, and also boasts that Mero's team has already come up a little bit short due to Mark Henry being injured. Lawler says that Henry is faking injury so he doesn't have to face them. Crush says they may be a unique combination and are a well-oiled machine of destruction. Goldust simply tells Marc Mero's team they will never forget his name.

Before the next match, it is noted that Hunter Hearst Helmsley no longer has an escort or Mr. Perfect with him, as "he is focused." "Wildman" Marc Mero announces that Jake "The Snake" Roberts is replacing Mark Henry.

The team of "Wildman" Marc Mero, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, The Stalker and Rocky Maivia beat the team of Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Goldust, Jerry "The King" Lawler and Crush in a Traditional 4-on-4 Survivor Series Match, with the debuting Rocky Maivia as the only survivor. During the match, it is announced that Sunny is the most downloaded celebrity on America On-Line, with more than one million downloads.

Todd Pettengill interviews "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Austin isn't intimidated by Bret "The Hit Man" Hart in the least, and tells Hart that cliches are cliches and an ass-whippin' is an ass-whippin', and that's what Hart is going to get.

Todd Pettengill interviews Bret "The Hit Man" Hart. Hart says that the one thing "Stone Cold" Steve Austin doesn't have going for him is that this is Madison Square Garden, and he has his fans here and Austin doesn't. Hart tells Austin he will respect him when all is said and done.

Bret "The Hit Man" beats "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in his first televised match in over six months after reversing the Million Dollar Dream into a pinfall to earn a shot at the WWF Championship at WrestleMania 13.

Dok Hendrix interviews Sycho Sid. Tonight, he won't snap, he will survive and do whatever it takes to do so. He considers himself the better man and says he will do whatever it takes to become WWF Champion.

Captain Lou Albano makes a surprise appearance after being inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame last night. All of a sudden, a group calling themselves "The Nation of Domination" shows up. Two white men rap while Clarence Mason, Faarooq Asaad (now ditching the gladiator-style helmet and now wearing black leather, a crowned kufi and a singlet with African-inspired designs) and two men in suits show up. Faarooq raises his fist in a black power salute. Jim Cornette guests on commentary for the next match, where the mystery partner joining Yokozuna, Savio Vega and the debuting Flash Funk is none other than "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka.

The Traditional 4-on-4 Survivor Series match between the team of Yokozuna, Savio Vega, Flash Funk and "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka vs. the team of Vader, "Diesel," "Razor Ramon" and Faarooq Asaad ends in a double disqualification after "Diesel" uses a steel chair while the just-eliminated Savio Vega and "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka grab steel chairs of their own to act as equalizers as the match goes out of control.

Sycho Sid beats "The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels to become the WWF Champion after Sycho Sid grabs a camera from the broadcast crew and hits Jose Lothario off the apron with it when Jose confronts him. This leads to Shawn being distracted by a downed Jose Lothario, and Sid takes advantage of it by dragging Shawn back into the ring. Shawn goes for a top rope cross body only for Sid to duck it and have Shawn hit the referee instead. As the referee is down, Shawn checks on Jose Lothario only for Sid to strike him down with the same camera that he struck Lothario with. Sid then drags Shawn back into the ring and hits the powerbomb just as the ref comes to to get the three count. After the match, the WWF Championship is the least of Shawn's worries as he goes back to checking on Jose Lothario, who is placed on a stretcher and taken to an ambulance.
