Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for September 11, 1995

It is announced that Vader has "gone AWOL" will not be part of the main event at Fall Brawl after not filing official paperwork to take part in the match. (In reality, Vader was fired from WCW after a backstage altercation with "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, and never participated in the first episode of Nitro despite being heavily advertised for it. He would be replaced on last week's show by Lex Luger, whose appearance was also as much of a surprise.)

Sabu beats "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright in his Monday Nitro debut. After the match, Sabu continues to go after Alex Wright and puts him through a table. The decision is reversed by referee Nick Patrick, however, and Sabu is disqualified for his actions. "Das Wunderkind" beats Sabu by reverse decision.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Ric Flair in the ring. Flair says the only thing missing from South Beach last night was Arn Anderson at his side. Flair says that they were great friends and that they ruled the world. Suddenly, Lex Luger shows up dressed to wrestle, and Flair tries to flatter him. Lex Luger says Flair is just too much, and Flair says that Hogan will fall to Luger tonight.

Sting retains the WCW United States Championship against the debuting Michael Wallstreet - now known as V.K. Wallstreet (a reference to Vincent Kennedy McMahon from the WWF).

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: Disco Inferno debutes! The Renegade battles Maxx Muscle! Big Bubba takes on Dave Sullivan! Flyin' Brian takes on "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright!

"Macho Man" Randy Savage beats Scott "Flash" Norton when The Dungeon of Doom's (The Taskmaster, The Zodiac, Kamala, The Shark, Meng) interference attempt backfires after Savage pushes Norton into The Shark. The Shark falls onto Norton as he topples into the ring, and Norton is pinned under The Shark when Savage hits the elbow drop from the top rope. After the match, Scott "Flash" Norton yells at The Dungeon of Doom as they just leave the ring.

Hulk Hogan vs. Lex Luger for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship ends after The Dungeon of Doom (The Taskmaster, The Zodiac, Kamala, The Shark, Meng) attack Hulk Hogan, but not Lex Luger. Before the match, it is finally acknowledged by commentary in a straightforward manner that Luger was in the WWF before making his surprise appearance last week, and during the match, commentary takes a shot at WWF Champion Diesel, saying that he "never made it past mid-level status in WCW," a reference to his time here a few years ago. After the match, Sting and "Macho Man' Lex Luger get in the ring and clear the ring of the Dungeon of Doom.

After the commercial break, "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Hulk Hogan. Hulk Hogan wants to know what side Lex Luger is on, as does "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Sting, on the other hand, gives Luger the benefit of the doubt and wants him to replace Vader on the team. Savage respects Sting's opinion, but wants to know why the Dungeon didn't attack Sting or Jimmy Hart. They have a team vote. Savage votes against having Luger on the team, but Hogan asks Luger if he wants in on the team. Luger says yes, on the condition that he gets another shot at Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship down the line. Luger is officially part of the team, but the unfinished business causes even more rancor among Hulk and his team.

Next week: Paul Orndorff vs. Johnny B. Badd! This Sunday on Main Event! AlsoThe Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags and Brian Knobbs) or The American Males (Marcus Alexander Bagwell and Scotty Riggs)? The Blue Bloods ("Lord" Steven Regal and "Squire" David Taylor) will be taking one one of those team next week!
