Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for September 7, 1998

The show starts with a cameraman running into Hollywood Hogan's locker room, which has been vandalized by The Warrior. As Hollywood Hogan, Eric Bischoff, The Disciple and The Giant make their way to the ring. Vincent says says someone has been laid out, and an ambulance is seen speeding away. Vincent does not know who it was, but Hogan does. Hogan and company finally make it to the ring, and check under the ring for The Warrior. Bischoff then calls The Warrior out, as does Hogan, who then kicks Bret "The Hit Man' Hart off of nWo Hollywood's War Games team and replaces him with The Giant. Hogan then asks The Warrior who he thinks he is for thinking he can put his hands on him, and says The Warrior will have to get through The Disciple and The Giant to get to him, and even then he will sic nWo Hollywood on him. It is then discovered and announced that Scott Norton and Brian Adams were the ones laid out and placed in the ambulance earlier.

Konnan beats Bull Pain with the Tequila Sunrise.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews WCW Executive Committee Chairman J.J. Dillon, who says that neither Hollywood Hogan or Eric Bischoff has the power to replace Bret "The Hit Man" Hart with The Giant at War Games, as per the legally binding contract that they have signed for the match.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Diamond Dallas Page. When asked if he will become a part of nWo Wolfpac, DDP says he has mixed emotions, then mentions what happened between him and the New World Order two years ago, and says that now, the ego in nWo split apart like an atom. DDP says he remembers how Nash "asked" him to join, and tells Nash he doesn't like to be told what to do and will not be threatened. He does not trust Nash after what happened between him and Goldberg. Nash shows up, thanks DDP for the history lesson, and tells DDP he has been asked to part of the most elite group in wrestling history, and tells him that if he's not in the Wolfpac's foxhole, he's in their sights, and tells DDP he has no idea where he gets off by saying he does not trust him. DDP counters by saying that history has proven that, and that he can't see how Sting or Lex Luger trust him, either. As if on cue, Sting and Luger show up. Luger tells DDP he should be flattered that he was even considered, and says he was the first person to endorse him as a potential Wolfpac prospect, and when Nash asked him to join, his WCW ties were as strong as ever. After not hearing from him throughout the summer, Luger asks DDP one more time to make sure of where he stands on Sunday. DDP asks Luger if he is trying to tell him that Nash would not Jackknife Power Bomb him or Sting in a heartbeat. Sting takes the microphone, and tells him that Nash has power bombed him once or twice already, and says he trust Nash and Luger. Sting says he has never had a problem with DDP, and has bailed him out of a couple of times. Sting then decides they don't have to wait until Sunday, and challenges him and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper to a tag team match against nWo Wolfpac tonight. DDP accepts the challenge. As nWo Wolfpac leaves, DDP tells Nash to be part of the nWo Wolfpac team, so he can make him feel the bang.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Piper tells Diamond Dallas Page he is not his lap dog, and says that even though DDP does not like ultimatum, he put him in a match that involves an ultimatum. Piper says there are no teams in War Games, as the last man standing is still the winner, and if he and DDP are the last two men in the ring, they will go at it, and the same will happen if the same scenario happened to nWo Wolfpac or nWo Hollywood. Piper then says he is on nobody's team but his own at War Games, but if DDP wants to tag with him tonight, he will do it, but at War Games, he is on is own and so is everyone else.

We see a video package of The Nitro Girls.

Wrath beats Lenny Lane.

Vincent, Eric Bischoff and Hollywood Hogan finds The Disciple hung upside down in Hollywood Hogan's locker room.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart shows up. After that, Curt Hennig, Vincent and Stevie Ray show up, too. Suddenly, Sting shows up with a baseball bat and chases Hennig, Vincent and Stevie Ray out, but Bret stays. Bret tries to high five Sting, but Sting keeps him at bay for a little bit with his bat before handing the bat to him. He offers Bret a chance to hit him in the bat, but Bret throws the bat down. Sting leaves.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

We see a video pack of Rick Steiner talking about what has happened to his brother Scott Steiner, and says he will beat the crap out of him after what he has done to their parents. He warns Scott Steiner that the nWo will use him and get rid of him when he can't perform to expectations, and not to come crying to him when that happens as he threw the Steiner Brothers away. If Scott says he is the better Steiner brother, he will have the chance to prove it.

Before the next match, Buff Bagwell forces Mike Tenay off the commentary table to guest on commentary, and announces that Scott Steiner will be Evan Karagias' opponent. Scott Steiner says the only reason he is out here right now is because he and Buff saw the Rick Steiner video package. At Fall Brawl, he will take Rick to the edge of defeat and push him over, as he is the better Steiner brother. Scott then tells Evan Karagias is that his scheduled opponent has been laid out, and he is in the ring at the wrong place at the wrong time before beating him up.

Scott Steiner beats Evan Karagias with the Steiner Brother, then threatens to beat up referee Nick Patrick.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Stephanie Young of the Mountainside YMCA in Albuquerque, New Mexico is this weeks' Nitro Party prize pack winner. We see some footage of her Nitro Party.

Juventud Guerrera retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Hector Garza.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Curt Hennig and a returning Rick Rude. Hennig says that "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson is a coward, and that he shut the door on The Four Horsemen over a year ago. Rude says that 15 years ago, the Horsemen were riding high, but today it is a horse of a different color and that Anderson has been put out to pasture. As for Dean Malenko, Hennig calls him a "wanna-be Horseman who doesn't know which part of the horse he wants to be." At the end of the night, he will make Malenko into "a horse's ass."

Ernest "The Cat" Miller beats Kaos, now going by the name Kenny Kaos again. After the match, Miller tells WCW that if they have anyone in the locker room to stop to bring him out right now. Nobody shows up, then Miller says the people make him sick.

Stevie Ray beats "Gentleman" Chris Adams thanks to the distraction from Vincent.

Before the next match, Saturn is forced by both Raven and Lodi to face Riggs instead of Kanyon tonight in order to prepare him for subservience to Raven's Flock.

Saturn beats Riggs as he is yelled at by both Raven and Lodi. After the match, Raven and Lodi commands Saturn to either break his fingers or break his honor. Saturn says there is no honor in breaking Riggs' fingers, and Raven gives him another option: either break Riggs' fingers, or he'll break Saturn's. Saturn lifts up his hand, and Raven breaks two of his fingers. (This entire match is mysteriously excised from the WWE Network.)

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls. (This performance is also removed from the WWE Network's video of the episode.)

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the third hour.

Before the next match, Chris Jericho says he is the walrus (a reference to The Beatles' "I Am The Walrus") and that he promises to never, ever treat the Jerichoholics wrong because he is better than all of them.

Chris Jericho retains the WCW World Television Championship against Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart (even though the victory is not apparent right away).

Eddie Guerrero shows up, and says there is nothing he enjoys more than wrestling in WCW since he can't wrestle anywhere else. Last week, however, he hurt his back, and his doctor has advised him not to do any more wrestling until he gets an MRI. In his contract, is states that Bischoff is responsible in case he gets hurt in the ring. Since he "likes" working WCW and "respect" Bischoff, he will do them both a favor and give himself the night off before telling Bischoff to kiss his ass.

Dean Malenko beats Curt Hennig in a steel cage match by disqualification. During the match, Curt Hennig knocks out referee Scott Dickinson with one of Malenko's feet during a scoop slam. With the referee knocked out, Eric Bischoff and Stevie Ray unlock the cage, and Rick Rude beats up Malenko as Malenko has Hennig in the Texas Cloverlead. Dickinson sees this and calls for the bell, then Rude slams him into a cage wall before counting a "three count" for a "pinfall" on Malenko. Stevie Ray and Rick Rude then continue to attack Malenko, and Hennig is about to sandwich Malenko's head between the the cage door and the cage door wall when "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson shows up, takes down Hennig and Rude and goes after Stevie Ray. Anderson stares down Rick Rude from inside the steel cage.

Goldberg retains the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Scott Putski.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Diamond Dallas Page and "Rowdy" Roody Piper beat Sting and Lex Luger by disqualification after Kevin Nash gets in the ring and attacks DDP before hitting him with a Jackknife Power Bomb.

Hollywood Hogan and The Giant show up. Hogan says he and The Giant have been looking for The Warrior all night long, but The Warrior doesn't have the guts to prove himself against the black-and-white nWo. Hogan tells Warrior that it's time to play the game, and if he wants to get destroyed by him, he has to get through The Giant, and if he can get by him, he deserves to be in the same ring with him. He then says they will do it in the steel cage, and leaves the cage door open for him. Hogan then says he will destroy The Warrior before beating Goldberg and taking back the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. As Hogan dares Warrior to get in the ring, fog envelops the ring and the inside of the cage. When the smoke clears, Warrior is there, sitting on a steel chair waitng for Hogan to turn around. The Giant is knocked out, and Hogan finds out he has trapped himself in the cage with The Warrior. Eric Bischoff shows up with the steel cage door key again, and The Warrior drapes his trenchcoat on the downed Giant before going after Hogan with a steel chair. Hogan hits Warrior in the back with a steel chair, but it has absolutely no effect. Hogan manages to escape and Bischoff locks Warrior in the cage, then fog envelops the cage again and The Warrior vanishes, much to the horror of Bischoff and Hogan.
