He talks about how lucky he is to be alive to see this year's Starrcade, then thanks some of the historical names that took part - and wrestled with him - in the show's history and says there are people waiting to come out to show they are the best. Owens says that this is possible due to Flair's legacy, then they close out the show with Ric Flair doing one of his signature phrases and a "Woo!", but Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson suddenly show up. Anderson says nobody cares about Flair's past, and Gallows says everyone should be talking about them. Anderson then proposes the next 55 minutes should be nothing but highlights of them, but Owens proposes they show A.J. Styles losing the United States title instead. Suddenly, Street Profits show up, and Montez Ford proposes that they fight Gallows and Anderson while Flair gets a front row view. This starts a match.

Lashley tells Lana that Rusev will never appreciate her like he does, then Lana says that tonight, there will be no Last Man Standing Match, as she has filed a restraining order against Rusev. After yelling that Rusev Day has been cancelled, she then says that Lashley will gladly take the victory via forfeit. Lashley beats Rusev via forfeit in a Last Man Standing Match via forfeit, then Kevin Owens shows up. Owens says this is not how the show is going to end, then says nobody cares about them and their relationship. After Owens makes fun of Lana losing her accent as well as her whole career, Lashley proposes Owens get in the ring so he can beat him up. Owens gets in the ring, and this starts an impromptu match between both men.

Starrcade 2018 One-Hour Special - The Results

Elias is in the center of the ring to start tonight's show. He plays guitar, then asks who wants to walk with him. He then says there is a man who is walking with him tonight who was not only at the very first Starrcade, but also a legend in wrestling as well as in life. That man is "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, who shows up. Flair says he has been dying to walk with Elias since he first saw him, then mentions his match with Harley Race at Starrcade 1983 before saying he is proud to be part of this show as well as WWE. Before Elias can perform a song about Ric Flair, however, Mickie James, Tamina, Nia Jax and Alicia Fox all show up. Nia Jax tells Elias that the four of them want to walk with him, and Elias says it is no surprise that all the women want to walk with him. Elias proposes that everyone join in on his performance of "Elias' Words." Nia Jax screeches the lyrics on her part, and Elias says she should shut her mouth just like she should have three minutes ago. He then proceeds to bring out four of his own friends for the performance instead: Ember Moon, Bayley, Sasha Banks and Dana Brooke.

We hear from Samoa Joe, who says that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. He says he might be insane as he and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles have gone at it over and over with the results somewhat the same. He then says that maybe Styles is the insane one, as while he has taken a piece of Styles with him and made him crumble a little more inside every time they have fought, and Styles has never come out of it whole. He says that Styles has had a lot pulled out of him, and says the definition of insanity is Styles getting into the cage with him expecting to come out at all. He tells Styles to enjoy his friends and family, for he will put him to sleep.

It's time for Miz TV, and tonight's guests are Rey Mysterio and Shinsuke Nakamura, who will challenge for the WWE United States Championship tonight. Rey comes out first with a neck brace around his neck, however, and his movements towards and inside of the ring are slower, then Shinsuke Nakamura shows up afterwards. Miz says it is nice to see Rey's face hidden again after Randy Orton ripped his mask off and tried to end his career, and asks why he is at Starrcade when he should be at home healing. Rey says Starrcade holds something in his heart that Miz does not understand, for Starrcade is where he saw his heroes like "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Sting and Eddie Guerrero for the very first time. He says it is important for him to leave a piece of history tonight by beating Nakamura and becoming United States Champion. Miz asks Nakamura what it would be like to play spoiler if he wins tonight. Nakamura has trouble pronouncing "Starrcade" before saying he knows about it and that he doesn't care for the event or for Rey, saying he liked seeing Randy Orton "go evil on him." Miz laughs along with Nakamura, and Rey tells him to shut it. Miz tells Rey he cost SmackDown Live the men's team's match at Survivor Series, but Rey reminds him he was team captain and that he also got beat, and tells him that when his hand goes up, Miz's mouth goes shut. He also tells Nakamura that if he liked what Orton did to him, then he dares Nakamura to get evil on him. Miz chastises Rey for using one of his catchphrases against him, then Nakamura takes advantage of the situation by hitting a cheap shot. Miz asks for a referee, and this starts the next match early.

Rey Mysterio beats Shinsuke Nakamura by disqualification after The Miz yanks Rey out of the ring to stop the 619. Shinsuke Nakamura retains the WWE United States Championship. After the match, Miz and Nakamura stomp at Rey, then Rusev runs into the ring and sends the two of them out of the ring. Lana is here by the time Rusev is done, and she challenges Nakamura and Miz to a tag team match against Rey and Rusev immediately.
