WrestleMania 14 - The Results

The mystery team in the 15-team battle royal is none other than The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk), re-united and now with new haircuts and wardrobes. The shoulder pads are now spikeless, glossy and sporting spray-painted designs, and both men are wearing helmets when they make their way to the ring. Their entrance music is also updated. Animal is now sporting short tights, and both men now have short hair instead of their traditional mohawk-like haircuts. Sunny, who hasn't been seen in weeks, is now their manager and is less modestly dressed than before.

The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) win a 15-team battle royal, last eliminating The New Midnight Express ("Bombastic" Bob Holly and "Bodacious" Bart Gunn). During the match, Kurrgan the Interrogator shows up and eliminates the team of Sniper and Recon, and Barry Windham shows up to eliminate the team of Chainz and Bradshaw.

We see footage of last Thursday's public workout by D-Generation X ("The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna), "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's appearance on Regis & Kathy Lee, Flash Funk on Kid's Company on New England Cable News, Sable and "Marvelous" Marc Mero at Champion's Restaurant & Bar, and The Headbangers' (Thrasher and Mosh) appearance at last night's VIP Dinner at Boston Park Plaza.

Taka Michinoku retains the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship against Aguila. Both men show respect after the match.

Gennifer Flowers interviews "The Rock" Rocky Maivia. Flowers asks The Rock how he would run things if he were leading the country. The Rock says he would be a ruler, not a leader. When asked how he would the homeless problem in America, The Rock says that as long as he has his home, he doesn't really care where they live as long as they keep their cardboard box homes off his lawn. On the judicial system, as long as the fans remember that he is judge and jury, everything will be okay. He then realizes that if he were the jury, he'd be a "hung jury, if you smell what I'm cookin'." (This sentence would give rise to the "Do you smell what The Rock is cookin'?" catchphrase.) On how he would run the White House, as long as all the interns beneath him knew their role and didn't do anything orally, er, morally wrong, he won't have to lay the smack down in a major way.

The DX Band performs during "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Chyna's entrance before the next match. (This is the first appearance of the pyrotechnics supplementing the crotch chops.) WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter then handcuffs himself to Chyna so that she doesn't interfere in the match.

"Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley retains the WWF European Championship against Owen Hart after throwing powder into the eyes of WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter and hits Owen Hart with a low blow from the apron as his back is turned while Triple H keeps the referee preoccupied. During the match, it is announced that referee Earl Hebner is currently in the hospital recovering. After the match, Chyna punches Slaughter and pushes him into the guardrail after the referee frees her from the handcuffs.

Former light heavyweight boxing champion Vinny Pazienza is seen in the crowd before the next match.

"Marvelous" Marc Mero and Sable beat Luna Vachon and The Artist Formerly Known As Goldustafter Sable hits a TKO on Luna. For once, Marc Mero is apparently genuinely happy with Sable and raises her hand up in victory after the match.

Tennessee Lee introduces both "Double J" Jeff Jarrett and Gennifer Flowers. Jarrett has just one question for Gennifer: "Ain't I great?" Gennifer tells Jarrett she's been with great, and that Jarrett is great. Gennifer then becomes special guest ring announcer for the next match.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock beats "The Rock" Rocky Maivia with the ankle lock to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship after The Rock hits him with a steel chair after Shamrock shoves the referee into the corner. Shamrock fights off D'Lo brown, Kama Mustafa and "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry with belly-to-belly suplexes, then continues to put The Rock in the ankle lock and refuses to let go. Faarooq rushes in wearing boots and blue jeans, but when he gets onto the apron, he stares at The Rock before deserting him. Referees and officials have to calm an enraged Shamrock down, but Shamrock hits them all with belly-to-belly suplexes. As The Rock, bleeding from his mouth, is placed on a stretcher and taken to the back, it is announced that Shamrock has been disqualified for refusing to release the ankle lock and the decision has been reversed, returning the Intercontinental Championship to The Rock. Shamrock goes off again, running towards the stretcher with The Rock and attacking The Rock yet again, this time on the stage. Shamrock then hoists the Intercontinental title over his head before tossing it back to The Rock and leaving.

It is announced that tonight's attendance is 19,028 people and the box office gross is 1,029,230 dollars, making WrestleMania 14 the highest grossing event ever in the city of Boston. A red dumpster is then wheeled to ringside for the next match.

Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie beat The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) in a Dumpster Match for the WWF Tag Team Championships! This happens when the match goes to the back, Cactus Jack puts the Outlaws on a wooden pallet on a forklift and Chainsaw Charlie drives the forklift to another dumpster, where the Outlaws are dumped, the lids are shut and the wooden pallet is placed on the lids to keep them from escaping.

Baseball legend Pete Rose is the special guest ring announcer for the next match. He says that the last time he team was here, they kicked the Boston Red Sox's asses and that Boston can't win a World Series. He continues to talk trash about the Red Sox, then he is interrupted by Kane and Paul Bearer. Kane then hits Rose with a Tombstone Piledriver, much to the delight of the Boston, Massachusetts crowd. Rose is then taken away on a stretcher. Then, numerous druids with torches line the aisle leading to the ring, and a lightning bolt comes down before The Undertaker arrives.

The Undertaker beats Kane. Near the end of the match, Kane performs the impossible and kicks out of the Tombstone, and gets right back up after the leg drop. The Undertaker has to hit him with another Tombstone, and Kane still kicks out. After a clothesline from the top rope, Kane gets up again and The Undertaker has to put Kane in a third Tombstone, this time hooking the leg to get the win. After the match, Paul Bearer tosses a steel chair into the ring and shoves the referee before attacking The Undertaker. As Bearer orders Kane to get The Undertaker, The Undertaker strikes Paul Bearer, and Kane grabs the steel chair. He strikes the steel chair into The Undertaker's back, then plants The Undertaker head-first into the chair with a Tombstone Piledriver. As Kane and Paul Bearer leaves, The Undertaker rises up and slowly heads back to the back.

"Classy" Freddie Blassie, Gorilla Monsoon, "Big Cat" Ernie Ladd and Pat Patterson star in a WWF Attitude vignette, where they say they can still hear the echoes of the crowd and that thye now cheer for today's Superstars.

"Marvelous" Marvin Hagler is seen in the crowd before the next match.

The DX Band plays during "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels' entrance.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin beats "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels to win the WWF Championship! This happens after Austin ducks the first Sweet Chin Music, blocks the second and hits Shawn with the Stunner. With referee Mike Chioda down, special guest enforrcer "Iron" Mike Tyson makes a fast count to make Austin the champion. After the match, Austin hands Tyson an Austin 3:16 shirt. Tyson lifts up the shirt, and Shawn gets up. Shawn takes the shirt from him and confronts him, and when Shawn punches him, Tyson knocks him out with a right hand. Tyson then drapes the shirt on the head and chest of Shawn, and confetti drops down all over the arena as Tyson and Austin head back to the back. "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Chyna are tossed out during the match after Triple H tosses Austin into a guardrail. (The match ends up being Michaels' last match until 2002, mostly due to the back injury that he had suffered until Royal Rumble.)
