Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for September 19, 2025

Michael Cole leaves the commentary table due to Brock Lesnar wanting to do his interview right now. As Michael Cole heads to the back, Lesnar shows up, grabs Michael Cole, tosses him into the ring, steps on his foot, and picks him up by the tie. Corey Graves gets in the ring and tries to reason with Brock Lesnar, but Lesnar hits Graves with an F5 as Michael Cole flees. Lesnar then grabs the camera and says "John! I'm comin' for you! It's D-Day tomorrow! I'm coming for blood!" Lesnar then throws the Prime Hydration Station around, takes apart some ring steps, then gets back in the ring and hits Corey Graves with another F5 as backstage officials check on Graves. Lesnar then heads to the back.

As Corey Graves is being checked on in the ring, Brock Lesnar meets Paul Heyman, "Big" Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker. Lesnar says "We should talk," then leaves. General Manager Nick Aldis shows up and tells Heyman, Bronson and Breakker and says he wants two signatures on a contract and no problems. Heyman says they are just here to sign the contract, but he soon finds out that The Usos (Jimmy and "Main Event" Jey Uso) are already in Indianapolis, Indiana for WrestlePalooza. Heyman says that he, Bronson and Breakker will enjoy the show.

Back at the commentary table, Michael Cole says he has never felt as helpless as he felt just earlier, and if that awaits John Cena tomorrow, then he does not know if John Cena has any answers.

Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss retain the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships against Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre. During the commercial break, The Miz replaces Corey Graves on commentary for the rest of the night.

Backstage, B-Fab tells The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) that even the best teams have disagreements and that they need to talk things out before she and "Michin" Mia Yim leave to talk with General Manager Nick Aldis. Montez immediately tells Dawkins that he will talk with Aldis to get a tag team title match. After Montez leaves, Bo Dallas shows up and says that while Montez does not want to hear what Dawkins has to say, he does. Montez rushes back and confronts Bo Dallas, who says that he is on a quest to put Dawkins on the right path, then Erick Rowan shows up and attacks The Street Profits with a hammer similar to the one Bray Wyatt used on The Firefly Fun House.

Backstage, R-Truth - now wearing a neck brace - is behind a wooden booth with the ESPN logo at the top of it when Los Garza (Angel and Berto) show up. The backstage segment turns into a tutorial on how to get on the ESPN streaming service for WrestlePalooza.

Bron Breakker and "Big" Bronson Reed attack Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom) before the next match, then Paul Heyman gets in the ring and says Fraxiom reminds him of The Usos (Jimmy and "Main Event" Jey Uso): down, out, victimized and flat on their backs. Fraxiom soon gets back in the ring and on the top rope to take down Bronson and Breakker as Heyman says that Breakker and Bronson will come out on top at WrestlePalooza. General Manager Nick Aldis shows up and says that if you start a fight on his show, you finish it, and makes the brawl into an official match.

The Vision (Bron Breakker and "Big" Bronson Reed) beat Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom) after Axiom tries to stop the Tsunami only to be shoved off the top rope and into the path of a Bron Breakker Spear. After the match, Paul Heyman tries to announce that The Vision will win at WrestlePalooza when footage of The Usos at Indianapolils stating that they will be the winners plays on the TitanTron.

Nia Jax heads to the ring. Nia says she is sick of the SmackDown women's division, as everyone in it continues to call themselves "alpha female" when she is the alpha female of the division. She says that it is definitely not Tiffany Stratton, and that she had to put her in "a Tiffy Time-Out," which is why she could not make it to NXT Homecoming. She also says that she would trade places with Jade Cargill, saying that she is incredible, yet Cargill would trade places with her to get better in the ring. She says that Cargill is great until she gets in the ring with her, because she will annihilate anyone at any time.Tiffany Stratton says that she is getting sick of Nia Jax obsessing about her and says that nobody wants Nia near the WWE Women's Championship. She also says that Jade Cargill is not here to save anyone. As Tiffany heads to the ring to prove why she is WWE Women's Champion, security steps in and holds her back, but Jade Cargill shows up and attacks security on the way to the ring. General Manager Nick Aldis shows up and says there will be severe consequences for another thrown punch. Aldis then puts the WWE Women's Championship on the line next week in a Triple Threat Match between Tiffany, Cargill and Nia Jax.

R-Truth tells Dragon Lee and The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) how to sign up for the ESPN streaming service to watch WrestlePalooza, then puts his smartphone in a toaster.

Sami Zayn retains the WWE United States Championship against Carmelo Hayes in an open challenge match after ducking Nothing But Net and hitting the Blue Thunder Bomb.

Backstage, Kit Wilson is meeting with General Manager Nick Aldis regarding toxic behavior on SmackDown when Damian Priest shows up wanting to know where Aleister Black is and saying that Aleister has gotten "the real him." He says that if he does not get Aleister Black, everyone will be looking at "a true punisher." Kit Wilson calls Priest a perfect example of what he is talking about and declares Priest to be toxic only for Priest to grab him by the throat and throw him through a wall.

We see Part Two of the video packages chronicling the history between John Cena and Brock Lesnar, which covers everything from 2004 to the present day.

We hear from Solo Sikoa, who tells someone that they are the only loyal soldier he has left and that they have never betrayed him. He then calls out Tonga Loa, who says that he has showed him love and has represented the family. He says that he has owed it to him to become a champion and let him down, but as long as Tonga Loa trusts him and is part of his family tree, his loyalty will be rewarded. Tonga says "I love you, Solo."

General Manager Nick Aldis oversees a contract signing between Drew McIntyre and "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestlePalooza. Drew McIntyre is introduced first, followed by Cody. Cody mentions that on this day fifteen years ago, he and McIntyre won tag team gold, yet nobody backstage was talking about it because the world did not revolve around them. Cody says he knows who McIntyre is and what he has done in WWE, then states that lately, the Scottish Warrior has become "a keyboard warrior" and dares McIntyre to get on his phone and get viral to try to put one over on him, as it will be the last time that he does. McIntyre makes a post on X (formerly Twitter) saying "Thank you Cody!!!" and thanks Cody for giving him a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship. He then calls Cody "the corporate champion," and says that the fans will eventually turn on Cody when he beats him. Cody warns McIntyre that if he ends up wrong, he will be known as the man who lost to him at WrestlePalooza and signs the contract. McIntyre also signs, then hits Cody with a Glasgow Kiss and topples the table. McIntyre then prepares to kick Cody through the bottom of the announce table again, but thinks better of it and tells Cody that he will not do this again, as their match will happen and he will take the Undisputed WWE Champion from him. As McIntyre leaves, Cody gets back up and fires back at McIntyre. Officials rush in to restore order, but McIntyre gets the last word on Cody, hitting with a big boot and stomping him in the head.

Here are the highlights from tonight's show!
